Digitalization at technical vocational schools is sometimes hard work

Technical professions require a vast amount of complex software

  • These applications are an elemental part of the curriculum
  • Most of the software is well protected
  • Performant hardware is a prerequisite
  • Most of the software works best with interfaces to machines (e.g. CNC, laser, 3D print)

WebTVET aims an overall view on the processes in school
rather than the optimization of every island

WebTVET will help you with

Technical professions require a vast amount of complex software

  • To find appropriate solutions for the digitalization of processes
  • The digital communication with all of your partners and peers
  • The digitalization of your pedagogic work
  • The digital assessment and the evaluation of learning outcomes

During the project we evaluated the potential of digitalization for each architectural element. For all elements with a significant potential for digitalization we went into research at our schools and gathered experience with potential solutions. This resulted in overviews of suitable apps and programmes with step-by-step tutorials and recommendations. You can find these informations in our “Tutorials” section.

If you are interested in a quick overview, please refer to our recommendations document. This sums all investigated apps and programmes as well as the suggestions per architectural block. We also had some overall experiences, which resulted in summarized recommendations.

The most requested feature by the schools we involved during our project was making apps and programmes like CAD/CAM available by web-technology to students and teachers. We spent a lot or research and Terminal Server technology was absolutely appropriate to the requirements of a school. You can find a tutorial to set up this environment here.
